Information for users with special needs
The Wroclaw University Library - a friendly place for users with special needs (12 Joliot-Curie St., Wrocław)
Parking space:
Separated and marked parking places for people with special needs are located in front of the Library building near the employee entrance, which can also be used by people with special needs, moving on crutches or on wheelchairs. Security personnel is available to help you reach a comfortable elevator that will take you to Level 0, which you can be used to reach the selected circulation department's agenda via the next lift route.
Amenities in the Library building:
Spacious library lobbies, doors without thresholds and comfortable elevators marked in the Braille alphabet make movement in the building easier for people with special needs, on wheelchairs and visually impaired. At the Library's Information Point, at level 0, the librarian will help and answer all your questions.
The toilets have also been adapted for use by people with special needs, are marked in Braille alphabet and are on every level. In the circulation departments (reading rooms, informatory, free access to the collections area) workstations with raised table tops have been prepared and wide spaces between shelves have been provided, which facilitate access to the person on the wheelchair.
The Library has induction loops available, which are devices that assist hearing in the case of hearing-impaired or deaf people who use hearing aids or a speech processor (hearing implant system).
The induction loop is designed for hearing impaired people with varying degrees of hearing loss who have the ability to hear and understand speech. It sends the signal directly to the hearing aid, which allows it to bypass any interference or sound distortion. To receive the loop signal, the hearing aid or speech processor must be equipped with a telecoil (T-COIL). Additionally, the loop has a receiver that can be used by hearing impaired people who do not use a hearing aid or want additional privacy.
All information about using induction loops is provided by the librarians.
