Digital Library - Grand opening of Digital Library of Wroclaw University (DLoWL)

On the 5th of December 2006, at 10:00 a.m. in baroque chamber of Oratorium Marianum in University of Wrocław, grand opening of Digital Library of Wroclaw University took place - www.BibliotekaCyfrowa.pl.

After welcoming many guests, Director of Wroclaw University Library described creation and implementation of the Digital Library, and presentation was supplemented with statistical data and multimedia presentation of DLoWL. To cooperation with Library were invited scientific employees of University, Wroclaw's cultural institutions and publishing houses.

Tomasz Kalota, on selected examples, demonstrated in practice usage of spread resources of Polish digital libraries, that are working under dLibra software - https://dingo.psnc.pl/en/.

Symbolic opening of DLoWL, by cutting the ribbon, was done by pro-rector of University of Wrocław, prof. dr hab. Urszula Kalina-Prasznic, and Vice-president of the city of Wroclaw - Sławomir Najnigier. Representatives of University and city authorities were most pleased with performance of Wroclaw University Library on field of creating modern solutions based on tele-informative technologies and digital medias, thanks to which academic didactic could be supported, as well as promotion of dynamically developing city of Wroclaw and whole Lower Silesia region could be achieve.

Event was graced by concert by Cameral Orchestra under conduct of Artur Wróbel from R. Bukowski State Secondary Music School.

After year of functioning, Digital Library of Wroclaw University is one of the most dynamically developing digital libraries in Poland (increase of number of entered digital publications and visiting readers). This success has been achieved thanks to creative and dynamic team, to which Director of Wroclaw University Library want to pass sincere thanks!
