Rules and conditions of usage of the Reading Room are determined in the Rules of Collection Circulation in the Wroclaw University Library.
Collection in the Main Reading Room
The collection includes monographs from two divisions from Free Access: A (General Works) and Z (Book Studies, Library Science), as well as the National Library publishing series and a collection of comics, graphic novels, and art books presented on separated shelves.
he Reading Room also circulate the latest issues of approximately 200 of the of the most widely read periodicals held in the Library.
Individual work cabins
In the Reading Room on the mezzanine there are 32 individual work cabins available for Library's users.
Conditions of usage
Who can use Main Reading Room?
-
adults with valid library card,
-
minors from 16 years of age – on the basis of written consent of the legal guardian, who have a valid library card.
Rules for users of the Reading Room:
-
leaving in the coatroom: overcoats, umbrellas, briefcases, backpacks, bags, laptops covers, etc.,
-
presenting or leaving at the library desk a document authorizing usage of the Reading Room and presenting an ID document with a photo,
-
signing in the guest book legibly, keeping silence; it is prohibited to use telephones for conversations, bringing and consuming food and drinks (except water in sealed containers) and smoking.
Attention: Users may bring their own materials into the Reading Room only in transparent plastic bags or baskets obtained from the cloakroom.
Attention: library security can remove from the Wroclaw University Library’s building person, whose behavior is in violation of the order regulations or violates generally accepted standards of human intercourse.
Attention: Wroclaw University Library is not responsible for any private property left unattended by the users.
Library's materials that are available in the Reading Room:

materials from the collection of the Reading Room,

materials from the Book Storage Department, ordered to the Reading Room,

publications from Free Access areas,
- collections delivered from other libraries by interlibrary lending,

collections delivered from other libraries by interlibrary lending,

materials from reference collections of the departments of general collections,

in Reading Room one can also use their own materials.
Attention: The Reading Room's collection is accessible on a free-access basis. After using library materials they have to be returned to the librarian. Materials form the Reading Room can be used only locally.
Attention: In the case of 19th-century publications, cimelia, and artistic editions, users should remember that they are dealing with historic collections and handle them with particular care. Please report any defects or deficiencies in the provided materials.
Ordering materials from storage to the Reading Room

orders for library's materials can be placed electronically via online catalog and from digitized catalogs,
-
materials from the Reading Room's collection can't be ordered,
-
the maximum number of orders placed by a user varies for each user category (Appendix No. 3 to Rules of Collection Circulation),
-
the number of materials circulated at one time depends on their state of preservation and may be limited to 5 items of books, periodicals, microforms or electronic documents.
Attention: Fulfilling of orders take place up to 60 minutes before closing the Reading Room (orders placed afterwards will be completed next day). Time for accomplishment of order is about 45 minutes, but may took longer with increased number of orders.
Orders from departments of general collections are fulfilled from Monday to Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
Copying of materials in the Reading Room
In the Reading Room, it is possible to copy library materials only for your own personal use, while respecting copyright laws and after obtaining permission from the librarian. Copies can be obtained by:

free, self-photographing (permitted for all library materials available in the Reading Room),
-
free, self-service scanning and paid, self-service photocopying of library materials published after 1950 (excluding large-format newspapers and materials in poor condition).

ordering paid reprographic services.
For users in the Reading Room are available:

workstations for working with library's or own materials,
-
individual work cabins,
-
computer workstations,
-
microform readers,
-
self-service scanner and copy-machine for library materials,
-
access to wireless Wi-Fi network (login and password can be obtained from librarian) as well as Eduroam wireless network.

a workstations adapted to the needs of people with disabilities, equipped with high tables, specialized keyboards and computer software that magnifies and reads text, as well as an induction loop,
Usage of computer workstations in the Reading Room:
-
computer workstations in the Reading Room provide access to catalogs, digital resources of the Library (including the Digital Library, Digitized Collections Search Engine) and interlibrary loan system Academica, as well as to make available library materials in electronic formats.
Prolongation or reservation of library’s materials in the Reading Room:
-
the user is obliged to return all library materials to the librarian after finishing work in the Reading Room,
-
library materials can be reserved and and prolonged at the user's request. Publications not used for three consecutive days are sent back to the storage or proper department,
-
materials from the reference collection of the Reading Room cannot be reserved.
