Johann Christoph Friedrich was the first custodian of newly created University Library. In years 1821 – 1823 he created list of over 2000 manuscripts and sorted them accordingly to divisions: I – theology (inter alia biblical, liturgical, preaching manuscripts), II – law, III – medicine, IV – varia (inter alia history, philosophy, philology) and to formats: F - folio, Q - quarto, O - octavo, D - duodecimo, and within them – accordingly to numerus currens.
Call numbers crated by him should be read as followed: I F 3 means: I – theology, F – format folio, 3 – next number within this division and format.
